
The Marine Biomedical Institute/Anatomy and Neurosciences Molecular Biology Facility at
the University of Texas Medical Branch provides
equipment and advice for investigators, postdocs, and their students planning to utilize molecular
biological techniques in their research. It is directed by Gregg T. Nagle, Ph.D. (shown in the
photograph)

Technical expertise is provided for most commonly used techniques including DNA and RNA
isolation, cDNA synthesis, PCR, Northern and Southern blot analyses, RNAse protection
assays, cDNA library construction and screening, DNA cloning, electroporation, DNA
sequencing and baculovirus protein expression. Expertise in peptide purificiaton using
RP-HPLC is also available. Investigators provide their own consumable supplies.
The facility occupies approximately 550 sq ft of floor space. Its capital equipment includes:
